Early in the season, many figured it was just a matter of time until the Red Sox figured it all out.

Considered one of the American League's most talented teams entering 2026, the Red Sox stumbled out of the gate and fired manager Alex Cora in late April. The results weren't immediate. By the end of June, with Garrett Crochet and Roman Anthony still nowhere near a return, that hope of a turnaround had mostly faded.

With the AL standings littered with mediocre teams, however, one winning streak is enough for most teams to jump right back into the race. The Red Sox have not only put together an impressive stretch, but they are on the doorstep of their longest winning streak in franchise history.

Here's a look at the Red Sox' streak and how they can make history.

How many games in a row have the Red Sox won?

The Red Sox won their 14th consecutive game on Monday night, defeating the Orioles on a go-ahead home run by Caleb Durbin in the eighth inning.

Boston's streak dates all the way back to July 3, with the team's last loss coming on July 1. It's the longest winning streak in baseball this season.

3-0 vs. Angels

After back-to-back home losses to the Nationals and a brawl that landed Willson Contreras with a suspension, the Red Sox quickly bounced back in Anaheim with a Fourth of July Weekend sweep. The series saw Sonny Gray improve to 10-1 on the year with another terrific start and rookie starter Jake Bennett nearly complete eight innings.

3-0 vs. White Sox

No one expected the White Sox to be better than the Red Sox this season, but that was the reality entering their series in early July. Boston quickly proved it had the momentum, however, outscoring Chicago 15-2 across three games and getting scoreless starts out of Payton Tolle and Jake Bennett.

3-0 vs. Mets

The Red Sox finished the first half with a sweep at Citi Field, dispatching the Mets to complete a perfect road trip. Boston finished the series by rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the ninth inning and scoring the go-ahead run in extras to move within two games of .500.

4-0 vs. Rays

The AL East-leading Rays represented a much tougher test for the Red Sox out of the All-Star break, in theory. The momentum didn't wear off over the break, however, as Boston immediately swept a doubleheader and rallied from down 6-3 the following day before completing the four-game sweep on Sunday. Wilyer Abreu hit four home runs in the series while Willson Contreras, officially back from suspension, got hot again with a pair of homers.

1-0 vs. Orioles

The Red Sox trailed 4-3 and 5-4 against a red-hot Orioles team on Monday night but extended their win streak to 14 after Caleb Durbin hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning.

The Red Sox will host the Blue Jays after wrapping up their series against the Orioles. They can set a new franchise record with 16 consecutive wins on Wednesday, July 22.

Longest Red Sox winning streaks

The Red Sox are threatening to break their franchise record of 15 consecutive wins, set all the way back in 1946. Boston's streak is already its second-longest at 14, and one more win would tie the mark:

Even the 2018 Red Sox, who won 108 games, topped out at a 10-game win streak.

The Red Sox still have some work to do to threaten the all-time winning streak record. Here are MLB's longest winning streaks in the modern era (1900-present):

The 1916 Giants might never be topped with 26 consecutive wins, but the then-Cleveland Indians came close in 2017 with 22 straight. Only the 1935 Cubs and the 2002 "Moneyball" Athletics have also reached the 20 mark in the modern era.

In the 21st century, however, only three teams have won more than 15 consecutive games. The Red Sox have a chance to become the fourth.
