Hendrick Motorsports is looking for a new NASCAR Cup Series driver. Following the 2027 Cup Series season, Alex Bowman will retire from full-time racing in NASCAR. Bowman, who currently drives the No. 48 car, will have a farewell campaign. So, who will take over the No. 48 car? One driver has emerged as the heavy favorite.

The expectation is that Connor Zilisch will replace Bowman at Hendrick Motorsports starting in 2028, as reported by The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi. Zilisch currently drives the No. 88 car for Trackhouse Racing. Despite a very rough rookie season, the 20-year-old driver is on top of Hendrick Motorsports' wishlist.
