Tech and Duke will square off Dec. 21 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

CBS Sports' Matt Norlander reported the development, citing unnamed sources. The game will air on Prime Video. It'll be the second year in a row the two teams have met at the same venue.

The Tech-Duke matchup came together just this week as a backup plan, the CBS Sports report said, to replace a Duke-Michigan game that fell through partly over a dispute about television broadcast rights.

Duke finished 35-3 last season, won the Atlantic Coast Conference by two games over Virginia and reached the East Regional final of the NCAA Tournament. Texas Tech finished 23-11, including a 12-6 record and three-way tie for third place in the Big 12.

Tech and Duke have played each other three times in recent years, including on Dec. 20 last season at Madison Square Garden when the Red Raiders rallied from 17 points down to upset the Blue Devils 82-81. Duke beat Tech 69-58 in a December 2018 game at Madison Square Garden also prevailed 78-73 in a 2022 NCAA Tournament game.

Earlier this week, national college basketball writer Rocco Miller reported Texas Tech and Southern California were finalizing an agreement to play each other on Dec. 13 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
