Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s supposed loan move to Ajax was the biggest story at Barcelona this week.
The goalkeeper was expected to travel to Amsterdam on Monday to complete his medical and afterwards, Ajax were expected to officiate the deal.
But in a shocking development, it appears ter Stegen’s proposed loan move to Ajax has come to a halt.

According to MARCA, what looked like a mere formality has once again become complicated, throwing the entire transfer into fresh doubt.
Everything had appeared set on Friday, with ter Stegen’s move finalised and Barcelona having given their approval for the goalkeeper to travel to the Netherlands.
Now, though, the situation has taken another turn for the worse in what has become one of the summer’s biggest sagas in LaLiga. Both parties remain inflexible, and the sticking point is no longer purely fiscal in nature.
In recent hours, a fresh disagreement has emerged over how the goalkeeper’s salary would be distributed between the two clubs.
A standstill with no easy fix
Barcelona, constrained by Financial Fair Play regulations, are refusing to budge on their position.
Ajax, meanwhile, are unable to take any further steps towards completing the deal until the matter is resolved.
As a result, the operation is once again at a standstill, with a solution appearing unlikely in the immediate term.

For now, ter Stegen remains in Barcelona while the two clubs attempt to iron out their differences.
What next for ter Stegen?
Despite the latest complications, there is optimism that the situation will be sorted in the coming days, one way or another.
Moving ter Stegen on remains an important piece of Barcelona’s summer puzzle. The German has slipped down the pecking order following the emergence of Joan Garcia, and offloading a chunk of his sizeable wages would ease the club’s financial burden.
The move is also being driven by Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruyff and coach Michel, who worked with ter Stegen during his loan spell at Girona.
For his part, the goalkeeper is keen on the switch, aware that regular football is exactly what he needs at this stage of his career.
