One more? Conor McGregor teases his ‘Last Dance’ after UFC 329 disaster

Is the end coming?
It has been just over two weeks since former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) two-division championConor McGregorinally returned to competition against Max Holloway at UFC 329.

Unfortunately, his highly-anticipated comeback lasted just 69 seconds, as McGregor injured his knee in “Sin City” and was unable to continue (watch it).
It has since been revealed that McGregor tore his ACL and meniscus at UFC 329 and will be out for roughly one year.
Before the entire fiasco, “Notorious” revealed that his next fight had already been signed for April 2027. However, because of the injury, he is now pushing that date back to next summer for International Fight Week 2027.
And apparently, it will be his final fight.
“What was to be a generational beating is now to be reset,” McGregor wrote on Instagram. “IFW 2027 The Last Dance.”

McGregor has one fight left on his current UFC contract, meaning if he does not re-sign before his next appearance, he will become a free agent for the first time in his legendary combat sports career.
That would open the door for McGregor to field offers from other promotions and platforms, including a possible MVP MMA fight against Nate Diaz on Netflix, a bare knuckle move to BKFC or even a return to boxing.
And while it might sound crazy that UFC would let its golden goose fly away, the reality is complicated.
McGregor will be 39 years old by the time he returns, is currently riding a three-fight losing streak and has not won a fight since stopping Donald Cerrone in 2020.
That does not exactly scream long-term future.
Of course, a lot can happen in one year, especially when McGregor is involved. Maybe UFC re-signs him. Maybe “The Last Dance” is just another tease. Maybe he fights once more and walks away for good.
Who knows?
But for now, expect McGregor to return in July 2027.
