Paige Bueckers includes Caitlin Clark in her All-Star starting 5

Paige Bueckers is fresh off her second WNBA All-Star Game and competed against the league’s other stars. She saw firsthand how good they are and enjoyed her time during the exhibition matchup. The Dallas Wings star was asked to name her All-Star starting five from active players. She included Caitlin Clark as her shooting guard.

The last two Rookies of the Year have often drawn comparisons due to their elite skill sets. They have demonstrated that they can knock down shots from beyond the arc and can also set up their teammates for easy baskets. Bueckers and Clark have played instrumental roles in the Wings and Indiana Fever’s success this season.

Bueckers’ other starters are Olivia Miles at point guard, Napheesa Collier at small forward and Breanna Stewart at power forward. Rounding out her list is reigning back-to-back MVP A’ja Wilson as the center.

It will be tough to come up with another starting five that could beat her picks. Experts consider them among the best at their positions, and outside of Miles, are proven veterans capable of carrying their teams.

The dynamic guards competed against each other during their collegiate careers, particularly in the NCAA Tournament. UConn and Iowa clashed twice with Bueckers and Clark leading the way. The Huskies won against the Hawkeyes 92-72 in the 2021 Sweet Sixteen as Bueckers posted 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.

Clark and Co. avenged the loss three years later, winning 71-69 in the Final Four. The 2024 No. 1 pick spearheaded Iowa’s attack with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

Both are still young and have a long way to go before they end their careers. Expect more fierce matchups between their them and their teams in the years to come.
