Notre Dame Football Talking Points
· Yahoo Sports
I rolled up to a high school football camp yesterday and I whispered into the universe… run the triple option.
People that know me know about my love/hate relationship with Aaron Sorkin. So… I’m stealing a title that he’s used for multiple episodes of his television shows; Talking Points. It just seems to be the theme right now as far as Notre Dame Football is concerned. The tropes and storylines are pretty much just rinse and repeat.

MARCUS FREEMAN TALKS
Notre Dame’s New York media blitz was much more tame and controlled than I originally thought it would be, but that isn’t a criticism. There are enough people talking about Notre Dame in a number of ways, that a lighter touch maybe cuts through the onside a little better — perhaps even highlights the main focus.
Regardless of all of that, Marcus Freeman continued to do the rounds
"CJ Carr is a talented individual and he's leading our team..

His work ethic has been there since day one and you're seeing the results of that on the football field" ~ @Marcus_Freeman1#PMSLivepic.twitter.com/UVvfJIzYEb
"We will supplement very little with some transfers but we have to continue to make sure our foundation is built with high school recruits..
— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) July 27, 2026
People value that and I try to use that as a reflection of our program" ~ @Marcus_Freeman1#PMSLivepic.twitter.com/38buZIt7GP
The biggest lesson Marcus Freeman has learned in five years as Notre Dame’s head coach?

“You’re gonna lose.”
Freeman told me last week the losing never gets easier but finding more useful ways to get over losses and get better from them is paramount. pic.twitter.com/6JffNDsKOS
RED PILL OR BLUE PILL
Calm down… we’re not talking about politics here. This is about Notre Dame and Ohio State and their reach into the corporate world.

SOUTHEAST BUT NORTH KOREA
The SEC propaganda machine is going full throttle. Up at the plate is Laura Rutledge to explain that the 9 game SEC conference schedule is so tough and gasses the SEC teams — despite them not playing 9 conference games before. ESPN and the SEC PR machine are desperate to set a narrative that has been completely blown up over the last 3 seasons… but they’re still out here working it. THE SEC PLAYED 18 HOLES AND GOT A HOLE IN ONE EVERY TIME Y’ALL.
"The competition within [the SEC] is so difficult that 9 games of craziness week in and week out, a little different than other parts, other conferences. … Furthermore, they’re gassed.”@LauraRutledge explains the SEC’s tough path to the CFP on the @PatMcAfeeShow 👀 pic.twitter.com/hKpnNuYkh1

ARE WE SURE ABOUT THIS?
On3 released a set of rankings that has the Irish offense as the No. 2 group in the country. Frankly — I’m not buying Notre Dame’s ranking here, but I’m not buying a handful of teams here — especially Miami. Both Notre Dame and Miami have notoriously easy schedules this year, so perhaps the stats will eventually make this list come true, but I’m not sure about it at all.
