It's the first-ever regular-season game in Australia for the NFL, so the Rams are entering uncharted territory. And with it comes a difficult travel schedule, navigating 13-plus-hour flights to and from Melbourne. The 49ers plan to get to Australia a week before the game, but it's unlikely the Rams will take a similar approach.
Sean McVay said on Wednesday that the team has finalized its travel plan but the Rams coach isn't revealing any details publicly.
"I have, but I'm going to keep that internally," McVay said. "Sorry to disappoint you, but what do you think we're going to do? It'll be a similar approach (to past international games) and really the goal for us is to try to keep guys in as close to a rhythm and routine as possible. This is new to us even, going this far. I trust our group and most importantly, what's going to be best for our players. We always try to take that into consideration."
When it comes to road games and international contests, the Rams typically try to spend as little time as possible away from home. For road games, they usually depart the night before. When they played in London last year, they didn't arrive until Saturday morning.
Expect the Rams to spend minimal time in Australia before the game and depart as soon as possible afterwards.
