With the trade deadline just a week away, Tarik Skubal's availability hovers over the rest of the league.
The two-time Cy Young winner could be on the move if the Detroit Tigers, who are under .500, decide it's time to move on. While the Tigers are still in reach of a playoff spot, the risk of losing Skubal for nothing in the offseason could override the desire to go for it this year.
While Skubal is considered the best pitcher in baseball, his impending free agency limits the kind of package the Tigers could get back. Teams typically don't want to give up huge packages for rentals, and combined with Skubal's high salary, fans may be surprised by the return package.

Los Angeles seals the deal by including Davalan, an outfielder having a breakout season in an outfielder-heavy system.
Milwaukee Brewers

The Cubs will have to be bolder than most if they want to pull off this deal considering their pitching injuries.

Like the Brewers, the Rays are known for pitching development but have more top hitting prospects than on the pitching side. To satisfy the Tigers' desire for pitching, Tampa Bay sends Detroit prospect Michael Forret, who is a strong prospect close to making his major league debut, and Griffin Jax, a veteran with 1.5 years left on his deal who can slot into the Tigers staff.
