Nebraska announces nonconference neutral-site game against Butler

Nebraska men's basketball has announced another nonconference game on the schedule. The Huskers will face the Butler Bulldogs in Chicago on Sunday, Nov. 22.

This is one of four neutral-site games for Nebraska this upcoming season. The Huskers also face Providence, Boise State and Missouri at neutral sites. Nebraska takes on Providence and Boise State before battling Butler.
It marks the fourth clash between the Huskers and Bulldogs, with the most recent matchup being an 80-76 Nebraska win in the first round of the 2019 NIT. This also marks the Huskers' first regular-season battle with the Bulldogs since late December 1986. The Huskers lead, 3-1, in the series.
Butler is in its first year under head coach Ronald Nored, who joins his alma mater after a coaching journey in the NBA. The Bulldogs finished 16-16 last year, their second-best season post the 2020-2021 COVID season.
Butler is bringing back five players from last season's roster and seven newcomers. Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg is excited about the opportunity to play in front of fans and alumni in Chicago.
“We were looking to add another high-profile game as we finalized our non-conference schedule and this matchup with Butler had many of the things we were looking for. It is an opportunity to play a BIG EAST program on a neutral court before we head into our December Big Ten Conference games, and we have a lot of fans and alumni in the Chicago area. I have a lot of respect for Coach Nored, who worked his way up the NBA coaching ranks before returning to lead his alma mater. He was with one of my basketball mentors in Rick Carlisle with the Pacers.”
The game is to be held at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. Tipoff time and broadcast information will be announced later this summer.
