Seahawks' Mike Macdonald Reveals What Makes New Coach 'Rare'
· Yahoo Sports
New Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has a tough job this offseason, stepping into the Super Bowl-winning shoes of former coordinator Klint Kubiak.
With Kubiak now with the Las Vegas Raiders, Fleury was sounded out by the Seahawks and now takes over an offense that helped win the Super Bowl last season.

So, he has quite the task ahead of him.
But what we have seen and heard throughout this offseason has been one glowing endorsement after another, with Fleury praised for keeping the main thing the main thing.

Coming from San Francisco, Fleury is expected to bring some of what Kyle Shanahan did, but also have some of his own flavor to mix into what the Seahawks already did well.
And for head coach Mike Macdonald, who was on Seattle Sports' Brock and Salk, revealed that Fleury is rare due to doing one thing.
“He sees it in 360 degrees, which is rare,” Macdonald said. “And so I’m really excited about that. It’s a lot of fun to talk football with him. I have a ton of confidence in how he sees it. I mean, shoot, I’m learning from him.”
The big thing that Seahawks fans and NFL fans for that matter want to see, if how Fleury, in what is his first NFL coordinator role, calls plays.

Kubiak had a certain way to do it, and Fleury no doubt is going to be different.
And just because Kubiak did so many things well last season doesn't mean that Fleury is going to roll that out in 2026.
“The play calling is going to be different,” Macdonald said. “I mean, if he goes and tries to copy what Klint did, then we’re going to be in trouble. That’s the last thing we want. We did a lot of great things last year, but that was that team and Klint was making those decisions for that team.”
So the winds of change have blown through the offense this offseason, and yes, there will be some things that stay in Fleury's scheme, but there will also be a lot of new wrinkles that Macdonald hopes will push the Seahawks towards the postseason.
And having a "rare" coordinator in charge, might make that a little easier.
