Broncos training camp: 5 takeaways from Tuesday's practice
· Yahoo Sports
The Denver Broncos wrapped up their fourth full-speed practice of training camp on Tuesday, the team's second straight day in full pads.
The big storyline coming out of practice was star outside linebacker Nik Bonitto appearing to suffer a left leg injury and limping into the locker room. As usual, coach Sean Payton did not want to get into injury details, but he did provide an overall positive update.

"He'll be fine, no updates," Payton said after practice.
Time will tell how quickly Bonitto is able to return to action. Jonah Elliss filled in at outside linebacker across from Jonathon Cooper after Bonitto's exit.
Here are five other quick takeaways after Tuesday's practice.
Broncos takeaways from Tuesday's practice
1. Broncos injury report: Bonitto wasn't the only injury update on Tuesday. After exiting yesterday's practice, center Luke Wattenberg (undisclosed) did not practice today. Meanwhile, tight end Caleb Lohner (knee) remains sidelined and cornerback Jaden Robinson (undisclosed) worked on a side field. Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton got a veteran rest day. Outside linebackerDondrea Tillman (hamstring) upped his participation after working on a side field yesterday.
2. Denver’s defense won the day: Several reporters tweeted that the defense won the day, with defensive lineman Zach Allen and cornerback Riley Moss among the standouts. After practice, safety Talanoa Hufanga walked by media members and said: “Just make sure y’all write in your reports, defense won the day. Defense won the day.” Payton was asked if he agreed with that notion after practice. "Just in the compete period, which is [the] first series of the drive, it’s either a three-and-out or you get a first down," Payton said. "So I think the first group forced a three-and-out. I have to look at the film on that last play to make sure, with the twos [second team], whether they got a first down or not. [We’re] kind of just simulating a fast start, on the field, trying to force a three-and-out, offense trying to get your first first down.”
3. Broncos release stadium area renderings: The team published renderings of an area master plan for the mixed-use neighborhood at Burnham Yard, Denver's preferred site to build a new stadium, on Tuesday. “They’ve been fantastic, tremendous," Payton said of the ownership group releasing the renderings. "We’re all fortunate at this time, the city. With so many challenges around the league with new stadiums relative to funding, they’ve kind of separated themselves. ... I think we’re all fortunate to have this chapter with them in a leadership position, in an ownership position, the Rockies, all of it.”
4. Denver’s first skirmish of training camp: The Broncos had their first dust-up of the summer when Evan Engram and Ja’Quan McMillian got into it following an incompletion. Other players joined in, but it didn't last long. Payton said it was a "silly" skirmish after practice, specifically referring to the late-arriving participants. "All I saw was just a lot of bodies," Payton said. "Whoever’s in the skirmish — I just don’t want to see the third person, the bystander who decides he’s going to be tough.”
5. Jaylen Waddle continues to impress: Waddle was among the standouts in one-on-one drills, with KUSA-TV's Mike Klis tweeting that the receiver was "putting on a show." Waddle has also quickly formed a good relationship with quarterback Bo Nix. "Bo is great," Waddle said. "Last week he saw me thinking about the plays, and he kind of just walked up to me and said, ‘Hey brother, don’t think, just play. I got you,’ and he’s been having me. I love Bo.”
Denver's players will be back on the field for Day 4 of practice tomorrow (view the full schedule). Wednesday will mark a full two-and-a-half-hour practice, so it will be a big day as the team continues to prepare for preseason.
