The Los Angeles Dodgers were hit with some bad injury news after Tarik Skubal's debut in last night's 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs.
Catcher Dalton Rushing, who was placed on the injured list Monday with a mild elbow strain, has a partial tear in the UCL in his right elbow, according to a report from ESPN.
"Tuesday night, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Rushing won't throw for several weeks, with the hope being he will avoid surgery," ESPN reported.
With Rushing sidelined, the Dodgers have two backstops they can use behind the plate. They acquired both players before the trade deadline.
The NL West club acquired Ben Rortvedt from the New York Mets and Hunter Feduccia from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Rortvedt started Tuesday's contest against the Cubs, catching Skubal's first game in Dodger blue after the blockbuster trade from the Detroit Tigers.
Will Smith, out since early June with an inflamed disk in his neck, is over a month away from making a return to the field.
In 74 games this season, Rushing is hitting .253/.335/.475 with 12 home runs, 36 RBIs, and a .809 OPS in 245 trips to the plate.
