Wisconsin women’s basketball will enter the 2026-27 season with a reshaped roster featuring a combination of returning experience and new backcourt talent.

Iowa transfers Addie Deal and Teagan Mallegni are among the Badgers’ most notable offseason additions, while Kyrah Daniels’ decision to remain at Wisconsin gives the program an important source of continuity.
Deal joined Wisconsin after one season at Iowa. She was a highly regarded prospect coming out of high school and gives the Badgers another young guard with the ability to develop into a significant part of the program’s future.
Her fellow Iowa transfer, Mallegni, returns to her home state after starring at McFarland High School. Mallegni's addition provides Wisconsin with another experienced perimeter option and a player already familiar with the state’s basketball community.
As for Daniels, she considered her options following the 2025-26 season before deciding to return to Madison. She discussed that decision during a recent media availability featured on the Locked On Badgers show.
Daniels' return gives Wisconsin a veteran presence who understands the program and can help establish expectations as Deal, Mallegni and the Badgers’ other newcomers adjust to new roles.
The next step will be determining how the pieces fit together on the court.
Wisconsin must establish who will consistently handle the ball, create shots, and provide dependable offense when Big Ten play becomes more physical. The Badgers will also need to build chemistry among players arriving from different programs and returning players adapting to a changing roster.
The Badgers have retained an important returning player in Daniels and added two promising perimeter options in Deal and Mallegni. Their development and ability to complement one another will be among the key storylines surrounding Wisconsin as it prepares for the 2026-27 season.
