The New York Jets are officially wearing pads at training camp. The appearance of the complete uniform has added another layer of intensity to practices.
The ongoing competition at cornerback has especially benefited from head coach Aaron Glenn's ramp-up period.

Sophomore cornerback Azareye'h Thomas is fighting for reps in the starting lineup. At Day 4's padded practice, Thomas had an eye-popping pass breakup in a rep with star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, per local reporters in attendance. That's undoubtedly a confidence builder for the second-year coverage defender.
The cornerback pushing Thomas for opportunities with the first-string defense is veteran free agent signing Nahshon Wright.
Wright had multiple pass breakups throughout Day 4. He had five interceptions for the Chicago Bears last season, and should bring an element of playmaking ability to the Jets' secondary this season.
Both Thomas and Wright are currently practicing with confidence. It's an excellent problem for the Jets to have to navigate. The rebuilding Jets need as many position battles to have several contenders as possible.
Brandon Stephens is expected to start at one boundary cornerback spot for the Jets. The opposite role will be decided by the competition between Thomas and Wright.
