The Denver Broncos wrapped up Day 7 of training camp without head coach Sean Payton and several assistant coaches.
Payton, assistant head coach/offensive run game coordinator Zach Strief, senior defensive assistant Joe Vitt, V.P. of player health and performance Beau Lowery, and head strength and conditioning coach Dan Dalrymple were among those who left Friday's session early to travel to Canton, Ohio. Denver kicker Wil Lutz joined them.

Those coaches (and player) all worked with Drew Brees during their time with the New Orleans Saints. Brees will receive his gold jacket tonight, and Payton will present the former quarterback as a member of the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class on Saturday.

5 takeaways from Day 7 of Broncos camp
1. Broncos injury report: When it rains, it pours. Defensive lineman Matt Henningsen was carted off the practice field, wide receiver Marvin Mims pulled up on a deep ball and left practice early, and tight end Nate Adkins (unknown) also went into the locker room early. Elsewhere on the injury front, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto (undisclosed) was back at practice, but wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (strain), center Luke Wattenberg (undisclosed), cornerback Jaden Robinson (undisclosed), outside linebacker Dasan McCullough (undisclosed), cornerback Sean Fresch (undisclosed) and tight end Caleb Lohner (knee) remain sidelined.
2. Courtland Sutton returns to practice: After three consecutive rest days, Sutton appeared to be a full participant on Friday. Sutton said after Thursday's practice that he's willing to do whatever the team asks to help keep him fresh for the 2026 campaign. Reporters on site tweeted that it looked like fellow veterans left tackle Garett Bolles, defensive lineman Malcolm Roach, nose tackle D.J. Jones and linebacker Alex Singleton got rest days on Friday.
3. Nik Bonitto cracks NFL Top 100 list: Bonitto checked in at No. 32 on the NFL Top 100 list, as voted on by players. Bonitto is the fifth Denver player to make this year's list, joining OT Garett Bolles (No. 42), QB Bo Nix (No. 59), WR Courtland Sutton (No. 68) and DL Zach Allen (No. 73). Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz and cornerback Pat Surtain are also deserving, and PS2 is a lock to make it. Meinerz was unranked in 2025; Surtain was ranked No. 10 last summer.
4. Broncos host free agent wide receivers: Denver brought in Kyrese Rowan (who spent part of last season with the team) and undrafted rookies Ben Patterson and Devin Voisin for workouts on Friday, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. Waddle (strain) and Mims (unknown) are banged up, but the Broncos could be simply looking at depth options to consider down the road.
5. Red Murdock stood out: Murdock, the final pick in this year's NFL draft, broke the NCAA's forced fumble record while playing in Buffalo. Now a pro, he continues to seek the ball, forcing a fumble on Friday. Murdock was one of the standouts of Friday's practice, with his highlights including a bit hit on running back Cody Schrader in the backfield. Murdock should have a legitimate chance to make the team's 53-man roster this summer.
