"We're excited about the guys that we have coming back and the opportunities that they have. And so there's going to be some guys that are going to be asked to do a lot of things on Friday night. You know, they've waited their time patiently. They've developed well. And so we're excited about their development where they are. Now we have to get out there and let's see where they are and how we continue to develop them. But we certainly, we really like our group. We're energetic, we're enthusiastic. They've got built a really good brotherhood over the last 4 to 5 weeks. And so, we're excited about the potential that they have," Sayre Head Coach Chad Pennington said.

The Spartans are returning quarterback Gage Pennington and one of the top defenses from last season, which was ranked 11th in the state in points allowed per game (12.2) and had five shutouts on the season.

Sayre will open their season on the road on August 21st against the defending 1A state champions, Kentucky Country Day.
