The Boston Red Sox have been the talk of MLB this season, after starting the year as one of the worst teams in the MLB, firing almost their entire coaching staff, and then turning into one of the best clubs in the league.
No one has been able to match them in the past couple months, and they’ve gone even further beyond since the trade deadline. In fact they could be the AL favorite when October baseball comes around.

Boston started the season 10-17 this season, and weren’t able to gain any traction until their last 70 games, where something just clicked.
In the past 70 games, Boston is 45-25, the best record in the MLB. In their last 60, they’re 41-19, last 50, 37-13, last 40, 33-7, last 30, 27-3, last 20, 17-3. All these records are also the best in the MLB.
In their last nine, they’ve gone undefeated, which is also an MLB-best. They also tied the franchise record a month ago after winning 15 in a row. Boston is humming, and it just seems like they can’t get cold.
They’re still getting better

What’s even crazier is that they’ve kicked it up a notch. In the eight games since the deadline, Boston has had the best offense in baseball. They’ve slashed .361/.425/.612/.1.037, with seven home runs and 42 RBI.
They also have a wRC+ of 180 as a team, and for reference, the second place offense, the New York Mets, have a 155 wRC+. Overall, Boston’s offense is starting to match their pitching, which has been elite all season.
A World Series run is in the cards

With all this in mind, a run to October is definitely plausible. It’s even favorable when taking into account the fact that in this run of Boston’s, they’ve swept division leaders three times, sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays in four games, and sweeping the season series against the Chicago White Sox.
They’ve also swept their eternal rivals, the New York Yankees, in a four game series that really started this run.
Considering that some injured superstars are starting to return, if Boston can continue this pace, they could take the top Wild Card spot, or even the division. If they do, a fifth championship this century is not out of the question.
