On Friday, suddenly the Seattle Seahawks announced that they had signed linebacker Power Echols, while also discontinuing LB Joseph Vaughn, 6-foot-3, 238-pound.

Vaughn had played college football at UCLA (appeared in 12 games in 2024) and Yale, then Vaughn had a future deal with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent but was released from there in April.
Just last Saturday, by signing Vaughn, the Seahawks had added extra depth at linebacker, but in just one week, they made a change, signed Echols to the 90-man roster, and waived Vaughn.

Basically, they took this step for Echols to create a combined roster spot.

On Aug. 15, which is World Honeybee Day Festival, the Seahawks will make their first hunt, that is, play against the Dallas Cowboys at Lumen Field, although this is their first NFL preseason game.

Echols will have to give his all to become a regular-season practice squad member, because the Seahawks are defending champions and they can't afford to slip up. As a promotional candidate team, they can call his number and give him the green flag, which will also be an opportunity for Echols since, if you look closely, the Seahawks linebacker room has been a bit short on depth cause of injuries.
Echols is on the shorter side for his position (5 ft 11 in), ranking in the fifth percentile among NFL linebackers in this regard.
The Seahawks' off-ball LB room has names like Ernest Jones IV, Drake Thomas, Tyrice Knight, Patrick O’Connell, Chris Paul Jr., and Chazz Surratt.
