Canucks Announce Two New Management And Scouting Staff Hires

· Yahoo Sports

The Vancouver Canucks have made two new additions to their management and scouting staff, hiring Ryan Stewart as Director of Hockey Strategy & Player Evaluation and Adam Sergerie as a Pro Scout. Stewart and Sergerie bring plenty of experience from the NHL and WHL, BCHL, and AJHL level respectively.

“Ryan brings a championship pedigree and a wealth of hockey knowledge to this brand new position,” Canucks General Manager Ryan Johnson said of Vancouver's newest hires in a press release. “He is someone we will lean on internally to help provide insight and information for our front office. With all his varied experience, wearing a number of different hats, Ryan is a big asset for our group moving forward. By bringing in Ryan and with the addition of Adam to our pro scouting ranks, our organization continues to invest in the areas needed to help our team grow and develop during this stage of our rebuild.”

Coming into a position that did not previously exist for the Canucks is Stewart, who has worked in various roles at the NHL level since the 2006-07 season. Stewart served in the following roles for the Chicago Blackhawks: Video Coach (2006-07), Assistant Coach (2007-08), Amateur (2008-09 to 2009-10) and Pro Scout (2010-11 to 2011-12), Director of Pro Scouting (2012-13 to 2019-20), and Assistant GM (2020-21 to 2021-22). He has since worked as a Senior Advisor in Pro Personnel for the San Jose Sharks.

Sergerie was reported to have joined the Canucks organization in mid-July. The former General Manager of the AJHL and BCHL's Sherwood Park Crusaders from 2021-22 to 2024-25, Sergerie most recently took up the role of Director of Scouting for the WHL's Penticton Vees in the team's inaugural WHL season in 2025-26.

Stewart and Sergerie are the two latest hires by the Canucks after a wholesale change that has most recently seen Cammi Granato shift from Assistant General Manager to Advisor, Jack Johnson depart from the club after only a few months as a Pro Scout, and Ryan Papaioannou hired as the new Head Coach of the Abbotsford Canucks.
