Cavs open season against 76ers, LeBron James, but no holiday presence

The Cleveland Cavaliers will be home for Christmas, but there’s little doubt the NBA schedule makers couldn’t resist the opportunity for a wee bit of drama to start the season.
The team will open the season on the road against – you guessed it – the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 22. Nothing quite like heightening the bridesmaid effect of losing out on native son LeBron James in free agency like spotlighting the first meeting of the season between the two teams on national television in the opening week.

There’s a larger question at hand, however. Where does the NBA view the Cavs in the league’s current hierarchy
Apparently not highly.
Last season, they played on Christmas Day. This season, after appearing in the Eastern Conference Finals, they do not. For the record, the other three teams to appear in the league finals – San Antonio, New York and Oklahoma City – will get that holiday spotlight.
Fans should take from that what they want.
