Bengals reveal which starters won’t play vs. Lions

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it clear that starters will play during the preseason Week 1 encounter with the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

Tuesday before the game, though, the Bengals clarified which players wouldn’t suit up for the game.

BJ Hill and Shemar Stewart, obviously, will not. Hill is on the PUP and still ramping back up. The rookie Stewart avoided a long-term injury after a nasty scare, but isn’t ready for game action.

Otherwise, the Bengals have so far declared that defensive backs Dax Hill and Bryan Cook won’t go, though they haven’t specified why.

Looking at it another way, that means the Bengals will have notables like Joe Burrow and new arrival Dexter Lawrence out there. It’s hard to imagine they play more than a series or two, but they will dress and get some reps in the exhibition.
