That’s the version of Caglianone Kansas City envisioned. And it’s exactly what Witt needs.

The Royals have spent too much time building lineups where opponents could focus on Witt without fearing what came behind him. That’s not how you maximize one of baseball’s best young players. Caglianone changes the equation.

His power creates the possibility of a legitimate one-two offensive foundation – the type of pairing that forces pitchers to choose which dangerous hitter they’re willing to attack. More importantly, Kansas City isn’t trying to solve the problem with another temporary veteran.
