The Atlanta Falcons played in their first preseason game on Friday night against the Denver Broncos in Atlanta. Unfortunately, it was a nightmare, as the Falcons lost 27-7.
A lot of things went wrong during the game, but there is one very glaring issue that should have Falcons fans a bit worried. That issue revolves around the quarterback room, and especially Tua Tagovailoa.
ESPN's Marc Raimondi noted how Tagovailoa's debut was not "auspicious," as he struggled mightily for the Falcons. But it wasn't just Tagovailoa who struggled; Cooper Rush was a disaster. One thing is clear after this game: The Falcons have a QB problem.

"All eyes were on Tua Tagovailoa in his first start of any kind with the Atlanta Falcons. It was not an auspicious beginning," Raimondi writes.
Tagovailoa ended his day going three-for-five with 22 passing yards and no sacks taken, though he fumbled a snap and had to just fall on the loose ball to avoid turning it over.
The Falcons offense went three-and-out on their first drive with Tagovailoa, and while he got a first down on his second drive, they still punted the ball after a weak five-play drive.
Even after the former Miami Dolphins QB came out of the game, things didn't get much better. In fact, things only got worse.

Rush was a disaster, going 7-for-19 for 62 yards and two interceptions, one of which was a 97-yard pick-six by Jahdae Barron to make it 24-0.
Jack Strand was the third QB in the game for the Falcons, and things went a little better for him, as he went 6-for-12 with 50 passing yards, but still no passing TD. He did run for a one-yard touchdown, but it wasn't a very exciting debut either.
Between Tagovailoa, Rush, and Strand, it seems clear that the Falcons have a quarterback problem. Michael Penix Jr. could be the answer, but with his injury history and shaky play, things might be looking incredibly bleak for the upcoming season.
