Florida State offers elite 2028 OT Austin Attalah

At the beginning of this week, San Bernardino (Calif.) Orange Lutheran four-star offensive tackle Austin Attalah, one of the top overall prospects in the 2028 cycle, announced that he’s already got three schools at the top of his recruitment.

Texas, Texas Tech and USC are the early finalists for the 6-foot-7, 290-pounder. Attalah broke down why those three programs made his list with Rivals’ Adam Gorney, but could a new offer shake things up heading into his junior season?
On Friday, Attalah announced that he’s received an offer from Florida State. Seminoles position coach Herb Hand extended the offer from the ACC program. It’s a timely one, considering the trench monster made headlines just a few days before by revealing his top three.

FSU has not signed a Golden State prospect in each of the last two cycles. In the 2024 cycle, it landed Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic four-star interior offensive lineman Manasse Itete, the No. 350 recruit in his class.
Moves are already being made in high-profile junior recruitments. Myriad 2028 quarterback dominoes have dropped over the past couple months and that’ll continue through the fall. Other blue-chippers are whittling their list of contenders down quickly, too. Attalah’s recruitment certainly has the look of one that could lead to a decision at some point before he’s a senior.

Fall visits to each of his top three schools are in the works. Could Mike Norvell and the Seminoles jam their foot in the door and bring Attalah to Tallahassee for a game this season? FSU is yet to land a 2028 commit and it currently has the No. 30 class in the 2027 cycle, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Attalah is the No. 21 overall prospect and No. 3 OT in the 2028 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 1 junior in California.
Attalah may be in California now, but he has ties to the Lone Star State. Multiple family members reside in Lubbock and that could bode well for Texas Tech down the road. Keeping him in California will be a challenge, but USC has made a splash this year and remains in the lead pack, too.
Earlier this month, Gorney predicted Attalah’s eventual landing spot. The Trojans are the team with the slight edge on the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine coming out of the summer. The blue-chipper has transferred to Orange Lutheran for his junior season.
