Over the summer, Messi was able to help take Argentina to the 2026 World Cup final while finishing as one of the tournament’s top goalscorers.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami won their first MLS Cup in December 2025 with the South American having a key role in their attack.

In turn, it is perhaps not that surprising that Messi’s rating on the new edition of FC (previously known as FIFA) has gone up.

Lionel Messi’s FC 27 rating revealed

In FC 26, the current edition, Messi was an 86-rated gold card.

However, with FC 27 set to be released in September, it has now been revealed that the former FC Barcelona player has been given a plus-three increase to 89.

Fans have since been reacting to this boost on social media, with many using it as an opportunity to heap praise on Messi.

One fan wrote: “Imagine improving your rating after age increase, this is crazy.”

Another stated: “89 at this stage of his career? The GOAT is still setting the standard.”

“That’s why he’s the GOAT,” claimed another fan.

A fourth commented: “Best player in the world,” while another tweeted: “He deserves it, he is still one of the best in the world, if not the best.”

FC 27 will be released globally across all platforms on September 25 this year.

But early access for the game will begin a week prior on September 18.
