Jaipur Declaration Adopted At BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting In India

The Jaipur Declaration was adopted following the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Communiqué 2026 held in Jaipur on Friday. Setting out a framework to deepen tourism cooperation among member countries, the meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and marked the culmination of the BRICS Tourism Track under India’s chairship in 2026. The tourism agenda was advanced under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. ”The Jaipur Declaration builds on the work of the BRICS Tourism Working Group during India’s chairship and focuses on four key priorities: Artificial Intelligence and Tourism; Sustainability and Responsible Tourism; Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building; and Tourism Exchanges and Seamless Travel Facilitation.

BRICS Countries To Collaborate On Tourism Planning And Visitor Services

The participating BRICS countries have agreed to support cooperation in areas including tourism planning, destination management, visitor services, multilingual communication, and travel facilitation.

The Jaipur Declaration also emphasizes sustainable and community-centered tourism, protection of natural and cultural heritage, tourism investment and infrastructure, development of diverse tourism products, continuous training and upskilling, industry-academia partnerships, exchange of tourism data and statistics, and the sharing of best practices.

India Highlights Tourism Role In Achieving Viksit Bharat 2047 Vision

Addressing the meeting, Union Minister Shekhawat said tourism would play an important role in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047, particularly by taking economic growth beyond major urban centers to towns, villages, and remote regions.

He said the sector creates livelihood opportunities for hotels and homestays, taxi operators, guides, artisans, weavers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and millions of families directly or indirectly dependent on tourism.

India Aims To Build Technology-Driven And Culturally Authentic Tourism Ecosystem

The minister highlighted India’s efforts to create a tourism ecosystem that is economically prosperous, environmentally responsible, technologically enabled, and culturally authentic.

“Tourism ultimately connects people. It creates opportunities for communities, enables cultural exchange, and allows citizens of our countries to understand one another beyond the formal relationships between governments,” Shekhawat said.

The tourism ministers and delegations of nine BRICS member countries, including Brazil, Iran, South Africa, the UAE, China, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Russia, and India, participated in the meeting.

On the sidelines of the meeting, India also held bilateral discussions with Brazil, Iran, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation and exploring opportunities for greater collaboration with the respective countries.
