It was a brutal outing for Bryce Miller as the pitcher struggled on the mound in historic fashion during the Seattle Mariners’ matchup against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night.

Miller is going through the fourth season of his career in the majors with the Mariners. He has secured a firm role in the bullpen, earning starts as he tries to keep Seattle in the playoff hunt.

However, the series finale against the Cubs had other plans for him. Seattle had the series win after winning 6-5 in Game 1 and 5-4 in Game 2, needing the victory in the finale to complete the sweep.

Miller only lasted for 4.1 innings during his start on the mound. He struck out five batters while conceding two hits and six runs, including a grand slam in the third inning. As a result, he ended up making history for the wrong reasons, via OptaStats.

“Bryce Miller is the only MLB pitcher in the modern era to have his team lose by 15+ runs in back-to-back starts,” the post read.

Bryce Miller will have to move on from this brutal performance against Chicago. He wasn’t entirely to blame for what took place in the Mariners’ disappointing 15-2 loss at home.

Seattle got off to a decent start, taking a 2-0 lead after two innings. It was all Chicago from there on, seeing the visitors score 19 unanswered runs for the rest of the contest.

Seattle fell to a 62-69 record on the season, sitting at third place in the AL West Division standings. They are above the Los Angeles Angels and the Athletics while trailing the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros.

The Mariners will look to bounce back in their next series, remaining at home. They host a three-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies as Game 1 commences on Aug. 24 at 9:40 p.m. ET.
