On Cam: 25-Year-Old Man Faints, Collapses Into Boiling Cauldron At Maharashtra Jaggery Factory; Dies During Treatment

A 25-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur died after falling into a vat of boiling jaggery at a plant in Maharashtra, where he had gone to work to help his family repay a debt. A video of the horrific accident surfaced on Sunday evening.

The deceased, identified as Danish from Mudi village under the Isanagar police station area, had been working at the jaggery plant for around four months. He had travelled to Maharashtra with 15 others in search of work.

The accident took place around 2.25 pm on August 21. According to the details, Danish was standing near the edge of a large vat in which jaggery was boiling when he suddenly felt dizzy and lost his balance. He fell into the vat and screamed for help.
Hearing his cries, fellow workers rushed to the spot. Two workers initially tried to pull him out using large ladles. When that failed, two to three others approached the vat and managed to drag him out despite the danger.
Danish suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died during treatment.

CO Shamsher Bahadur Singh said the accident occurred at a jaggery plant in Maharashtra and no written complaint had been received so far.
