Police in Kawartha Lakes are investigating after reports were made of a person who appeared to be tied up.

The call came in just before 12:30 pm. on Wednesday, with a witness telling police they spotted the tied-up individual near Angeline St. N. and Connolly Rd. in Lindsay.

“The witness subsequently lost sight of the individual, prompting officers to conduct an extensive search of the area,” read a statement posted to Facebook by the Kawartha Lakes Police Service .

As part of their investigation, officials deployed officers to search the area on foot, as well as employing the use of a police drone to canvas nearby wooded areas.

Despite their efforts, no sign of any person in distress was located.

No concern for public safety

“At this time, investigators do not believe there is any concern for public safety,” police said.

In their efforts to get to the bottom of the case, police are asking for anybody in the area at the time of the call, or may have information — including surveillance camera footage, dash camera footage or commercial security video recordings — to contact the Kawartha Lakes Police Service non-emergency line at 705-324-5252.
