Oklahoma City man ignites makeshift flamethrower while served an eviction order

Sometimes, a man will go to extreme lengths to defend his castle.
An Oklahoma City man served an eviction notice at his residence on the morning of Aug. 11 and met deputies with a flamethrower.
According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at the apartment of a 61-year-old man after deputies broke through a barricaded door and went inside the darkened apartment to serve him his notice.
Once inside, the deputies encountered stiff resistance as the man, who appeared naked, was sitting in a chair and facing the entrance, and shooting flames at the deputies from the bedroom.

Met with flames
The flames forced law enforcement officials back into the hallway.
According to the sheriff’s office, the flamethrower was “sending flames about 15 feet in the direction of our deputy.”
Police say the man used a lighter and a can of aerosol to ignite the device.
After ordering the man several times to drop his weapon, deputies then vacated the apartment altogether when police found what appeared to be an improvised explosive device inside.
The homemade IED was a car battery connected by wires to a device located near the front door. News outlet WJCL in Oklahoma reported several cans of aerosol were taped together and connected to wires.
The bomb squad soon attended the scene and disabled the device. The suspect was taken to a local hospital, followed by a trip to a psychiatric facility
Darron Dunn was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, possession of an incendiary device or explosives, and obstructing an officer.
Video of the incident was released by the sheriff’s office.
