The draw took place earlier on Saturday at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, and there was a fitting figure on hand to determine Bayern’s next opponent. Club legend Bastian Schweinsteiger served as the draw master, handing his former club a matchup vs. FC Magdeburg.
Bayern Munich will enter as heavy favorites, particularly with the match being played at home. However, the DFB-Pokal has a long history of producing surprises, and Kompany will be determined to ensure his team does not underestimate another opponent from outside the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich made their intentions clear in the opening round with a convincing performance against VfL Osnabrück, and they will now look to carry that momentum into the second round.
The only remaining piece of the puzzle is the exact kickoff information. The DFB is expected to announce the specific date and time for Bayern Munich vs. Magdeburg in the coming days.
