The Miami Heat have had a great offseason that has set them up for what should be an exciting season. The additions they have made could make them a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference.

The first move of the summer was a blockbuster trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“The Milwaukee Bucks are trading franchise icon Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks (including No. 13 in Tuesday's NBA draft), one pick swap and one second-round pick, sources told ESPN. The Heat are sending to Milwaukee unprotected first-rounders in 2031 and 2033 along with No. 13, a pick swap in 2030 and a 2033 second-rounder, according to sources,” ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote.

When Antetokounmpo first became part of the organization, it took him some time to get adjusted. He was very clear about that.

“And I am happy to be in Miami. I can't lie, I don't feel comfortable in Miami. I'll go there and do my best. That's what I've been doing through my entire career. Hopefully, everything will turn out well,” Antetokounmpo said.

The former MVP is also eligible for a contract extension during the upcoming season. Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus believes he will receive a $213 million extension at some point during the season.

The Heat want to get back to the NBA Finals, and so does Antetokounmpo, who has won just one championship in his career. Miami has put a talented roster around him, giving the former MVP a legitimate chance to compete for another title.

Obviously, an extension would go a long way toward keeping Antetokounmpo in Miami for the foreseeable future. The Heat sent a significant amount of talent to the Milwaukee Bucks to acquire him, so the organization has to do whatever it can to ensure he remains in South Beach.
