Tottenham Injury News: Mudryk Blow, Maddison Boost and Kulusevski Return Timeline

Tottenham head into the Everton game needing points and needing bodies. Roberto De Zerbi is still waiting for his first Premier League win of the season after defeats to Brentford and Newcastle, followed by a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest. That is the surface problem. Underneath it, Tottenham injuries are beginning to shape the early weeks of the campaign.
The headline is straightforward. Mykhailo Mudryk is out, and that matters. James Maddison could be back, and that matters too. Dejan Kulusevski is close, but close does not mean available.
Mykhailo Mudryk Injury Hits Spurs Hard
Mudryk arrived late in the window as one of Tottenham’s more curious signings, a player De Zerbi knows and a player clearly in need of minutes after a long absence from competitive football. He had only just made his debut at the City Ground when the latest setback landed.
The winger has picked up an ankle injury in training and will be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks, with eight not ruled out. For a player trying to recover rhythm, confidence and sharpness, that is damaging. For Tottenham, it removes one of the few wide options capable of stretching a game in transition.
Potential return date: Leeds United away on November 7, 2026.
James Maddison Return Could Lift Creativity
Maddison has been absent since the opening weekend after suffering a broken shoulder against Brentford. That came after a long spell out with an ACL injury last season, so every delay has carried extra weight.
There is, finally, some positive news here. The midfielder has returned to team training and is pushing to be involved against Everton. Tottenham have lacked control and invention in the final third, and Maddison remains the obvious player to bring both. Whether he starts is another matter, but even a place on the bench would change the options available to De Zerbi.
Potential return date: Everton at home on September 12, 2026.

Dejan Kulusevski Nears Comeback
Kulusevski has been out for more than 500 days with a serious kneecap issue, so caution is inevitable. He is back on the training pitch, and the language around his recovery is encouraging, but Tottenham are not going to rush this.
His international manager offered the clearest update, saying: “He’s very close actually. I’m so impressed with him, how he’s handled his injury,” and added, “Of course we have to be careful with him. I hope he comes with us, but we have to talk to Dejan and Tottenham first.”
That says plenty. He is progressing, but there is no firm date yet. Tottenham need him fit for the medium term, not available for one hurried appearance now.
Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert Face Longer Wait
Xavi Simons will not return in 2026 after tearing his ACL against Wolves in April. The expectation is a comeback in early 2027, assuming recovery stays on track. There is nothing unusual about that timeline, and no reason for Tottenham to force it.
Wilson Odobert is slightly further along after his own ACL injury. He could potentially return before the end of the year, which would at least give Tottenham another attacking option during a congested period.
Right now, the picture is clear enough. Tottenham injuries are restricting De Zerbi, Mudryk is the latest blow, and Maddison’s return has become more important by the day. Spurs do not need drama. They need players back and they need results.
