Bills at Texans Madden 27 simulation might surprise you
· Yahoo Sports
Buffalo opens the 2026 season against Houston on September 13, and I wanted to know what happens before it actually happens. So I ran the game — CPU vs CPU, no controller in my hand, no thumb on the sim button pushing Buffalo toward a result I wanted. Just Madden 27, loaded with a stack of realism mods, left to play the Bills-Texans opener on its own terms.

What went into building it
I didn’t just boot up a default roster and hit play. This build includes updates from mascot jerseys to scoreboard videos and a stat-tracking overlay so the numbers hold up to scrutiny. On top of that, I layered in a CPU-vs-CPU gameplay mod built specifically to make AI-controlled football look and behave like real NFL football instead of default Madden AI tendencies — that’s the mod doing the heaviest lifting here.
I’m not going to spoil the result in this piece. That defeats the point of putting the video together in the first place.
Go watch it
The full simulation is up now on Sim Mode, my channel dedicated to realistic sports simulations. If you want to see how Madden 27 thinks the Bills’ Week 1 trip to Houston goes before the real broadcast tips off today, that’s where to find it. (Game starts at 08:32)
I’ll be curious to see how close this ends up to what actually happens Saturday. If the game got it right, that’s a pretty good sign this becomes a regular piece of Bills coverage going forward. If they got it wrong, that’s at least a fun way to wait for the real thing to happen on Sundays. Either way, watch it before kickoff and see for yourself.
