Ryan Garcia (25-2, 1 no-contest) defends his WBC welterweight title for the first time in the contest. Garcia defeated Mario Barrios via unanimous decision in his last outing this past February.
Conor Benn (25-1, 14 knockouts) competes in arguably the biggest fight of his career. He is on a two-fight win streak after his lone career loss., defeating Chris Eubank Jr. and Regis Prograis via unanimous decision.

Round 1:
Both fires firing rapid jabs. Quick counter left by Garcia. Benn to the body, but Garcia catches him with a left hook. There’s energy in these exchanges. Benn combo has Garcia on the defensive. Garcia goes to the body. He is dancing side to side, almost frantic. Garcia lands a clean uppercut, Benn throwing big, but missing. Benn staying busy, Garcia defending well, let’s see who can keep up this pace for another 11 rounds.

Round 2:
Benn attacking the body, but he’s going for the head, too. Garcia lands a heavy left on an off-balance Benn. Garcia with a counter right. Another right on the money follows and DOWN goes Benn! He answers the count, but he is hurt. Garcia pressing the advantage, just loading up heavy punches. Benn cannot get off the ropes. Garcia punching away, Taylor steps in for the save. Benn might have been able to recover, but he’s not protesting. Wow, what a performance by Garcia!

Post-fight, Garcia cites his spirituality for bringing him joy and peace heading into this fight.
He says his right hand has always been a weapon, but he was hindered by injuries. He thanks Benn for helping to build the fight.
He caps off his speech with a “Viva Mexico!”
Before he can leave, he’s asked to say a few more words and, of course, calls out Teofimo Lopez at ringside. Security has to hold Lopez back, and then Garcia as he attempts to meet him.
“I’ll beat your ass right now,” Garcia says.
He adds that he wants to clear out the welterweight division, and that includes beating Devin Haney again.
“Fuck the Haneys!” he adds.
