After the Green Bay Packers’ disheartening 39-22 loss in Week 1 to the Minnesota Vikings, it might be hard for fans of the Green and Gold to find even a sliver of optimism about the future of the season.

Micah Parsons, at least, provides one.
About four hours after the Packers went from a double-digit lead to being embarrassed by double digits in the blink of an eye inside thunderous U.S. Bank Stadium, Parsons put out a message on X.
It was a short post but it was an important reminder from the All-Pro edge rusher:
“1 week closer,” Parsons wrote, followed by a lion emoji.

Parsons’ eventual return, whenever it happens, can’t come soon enough for the Packers, who have yet to win a game since he suffered a torn ACL last December.
Without Parsons, the Packers lost the last five games in 2025, including in the playoffs, and the streak continues with the 2026 season-opening disaster.
Parsons is beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list as he continues to recover from the injury.
He’ll miss at least the Packers’ first four games while on the PUP list.
A Week 5 game against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 11 or a Week 6 matchup against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, on Oct. 18 could be potential options for Parsons’ return.
While the return shouldn’t be too far off, Parsons and general manager Brian Gutekunst have noted they won’t rush it. A new NFL rule, however, could open Parsons’ 21-day practice window as soon as in Week 3 after the team’s second game.
Parsons suffered his injury on Dec. 14 and had surgery two weeks later.
A nine-month recovery is the minimum timeline for a torn ACL.
Before the injury, Parsons enjoyed a Pro Bowl season that saw him rack up 12.5 sacks through 13 games. He was everything Gutekunst could have hoped for when he traded for Parsons prior to the start of the 2025 season.
But the Packers still haven’t found a way to recover following Parsons’ devastating injury.
