Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink continues to build her presence on and off the court, posting 9.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.
Brink hasn’t shied away from the heavy media noise surrounding the WNBA’s cultural debates. Addressing outside attacks on transgender athletes, including online provocations from political commentators, she pushed back directly against the outrage cycle.
“For me personally, I think when it comes to the trans issues – that I believe you’re talking about – I think it’s a non-issue and I think it’s people trying to just come for the trans community and I just don’t stand for that.
“I think what, I don’t even know what the f— his name is, he’s a stupid piece of s—. And I think a lot of people think that, and I think he’s just trying to stay relevant.”
Cameron Brink shows more support for the transgender community
In a new interview with The Mirror, Cameron Brink has stood by her original comments on the transgender community and offered her support.
She said: “Yeah, I think I said it, the last thing I said. I just – I care deeply about all groups of people, no matter where they’re from, who they are, who they want to be.”
It’s slightly off topic from Sophie Cunningham’s previous comments, as they were centered around transgender athletes taking part in the WNBA, opposed to the trans community as a whole.
However, it’s clear that the whole transgender debate is causing a divide throughout the WNBA, as you’ve got Natasha Cloud and other stars taking to social media to voice their views.
