Offensive line play voted Michigan Football’s biggest issue

Earlier this week, we asked fans what they believe is Michigan’s biggest issue thus far this season. Here are the results.

45% voted that offensive line play is Michigan’s biggest issue. 36% believe it is penalties, 15% think it’s the quarterback play of Bryce Underwood, and just 4% say it’s the running back position.

The voting would indicate a lot of our readers know the game — the performance of the offensive line greatly determines how a quarterback and rushing attack perform. The quarterback and running back absolutely need a cohesive offensive line to do their jobs well. Michigan’s offensive line has had its fair share of struggles in the first two games in pass protection and run blocking.

While the offensive line was voted the biggest issue for Michigan, 36% voted penalties as a strong second-place concern. Michigan has 20 penalties for 170 yards through two games. If that trend continues, Michigan will start losing close games because of self-inflicted errors.

Michigan plays UTEP on Saturday afternoon. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Michigan is currently a 36.5-point favorite.
