Oregon Ducks climb slightly in US LBM Coaches Poll after 84-0 win

With an 84-0 win over the Portland State Vikings on Friday night, the Oregon Ducks did little to prove anything more than the fact that they can execute in an uncompetitive matchup and beat a team that isn't as talented as they are. As far as getting back into national championship contention, though, the jury is still out.
However, their blowout win was enough to cause a little bit of movement in the US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 3. On Sunday morning, the new poll came out and revealed that Oregon had moved up from No. 18 to No. 16 ahead of the Week 4 clash against the USC Trojans — who dropped one spot to No. 12.

The move up is nice, but considering where Oregon started the season — at No. 2 in the rankings, the highest in program history for a preseason poll — it will be a long road back for the Ducks to match that mark. However, they will have opportunities to make some statements over the next couple of months.
It starts this week with the trip down to Los Angeles, where a season-defining game will take place against the Trojans. After that, Oregon has big games at the end of the year against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, and Washington Huskies.
The only ranking that matters is the one that comes out at the end of the year, but for now, it's clear the Ducks still have work to do.
