Georgia Amoore isn’t holding back on praising a Washington Mystics player after the Indiana Fever win. According to the 25-year-old guard, one of her teammates has been making a difference in every game. 

Following the 93-77 victory over the Fever, Amoore showered Shakira Austin with praise for her improved play. The 25-year-old guard said, “If she doesn’t get Most Improved Player, I’m going to start a literal riot.”

“Because the way she’s playing — it’s efficiency, night in and night out … Not many people play both sides of the ball as efficiently and aggressively as she does, and she makes a difference on both ends of the floor.”

“Just her ability to finish plays. I love saying that a play is not done until Shakira decides it’s done … I think she’s just channeled her aggression. She’s channeled her emotions to just see red, no pun intended … and I think that’s what makes her so special.”

Shakira Austin scored 20 points in 26 minutes and added a game-high 10 rebounds against the Fever. The 26-year-old center also had 5 assists and 2 steals, helping the Mystics secure a 17-point victory. 

How Did Georgia Amoore Perform Against the Indiana Fever?

Amoore has been a key part of the Washington Mystics this season despite dealing with a knee issue. Although she was listed as questionable before the Fever matchup, the 25-year-old guard was cleared to take the court on Sunday evening. 

In 23 minutes on the court, Amoore added 11 crucial points for the Mystics. The 25-year-old guard also recorded 1 rebound, 4 assists, and 1 steal before the final buzzer.

Amoore has been a key part of the Mystics’ 2026 WNBA campaign. The former Virginia Tech and Kentucky star is averaging 6.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 0.3 steals in 41 regular-season games this season. 

Who Will The Washington Mystics Next Face Following Indiana Fever Win?

Before concluding their 2026 WNBA regular season, the Mystics have two games remaining. Georgia Amoore’s team will next face the Connecticut Sun, who are ranked 14th, at home at the CareFirst Arena on September 22. 

The Mystics’ final regular-season matchup is also at home against the Chicago Sky on September 24. Even if the Mystics lose both games, the team will qualify for the playoffs. 

The Mystics currently sit in seventh place in the standings with 26 wins and 16 losses.
