Lindsay Clancy's ex-hubby blasts ghouls: 'Deeply harmful' to kids' legacy

Patrick Clancy and his wife, Dr. Rachel Danis , broke their silence on 60 Minutes on Sunday night.
The devastated dad’s first wife, Lindsay Clancy, “viciously” murdered their kids — Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan — by strangling them to death with exercise bands inside the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023.
Lindsay Clancy, 36, then tried to kill herself. Her controversial murder trial ended in a mistrial earlier this month. Her legal team argued Lindsay was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
Couple wants to start family
On 60 Minutes, Patrick and Rachel — a fertility doctor — announced they want to start a family. He said their child would know about Cora, Dawson and Callan.
“I think every parent can agree, you have different relationships with your kids, but they’re all your kids,” Patrick said. “And I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister.”
The pair would not confirm if they are now pregnant after reports about the pair strolling in New York City and Rachel sporting a baby bump.
The pair met one year after the tragedy and married in April.
“And I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday,” she revealed. “And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”
‘Who are those cuties?’
One disturbing revelation came early when Rachel spotted photos of Clancy’s children on his phone as he paid for coffee. She asked: “Who are those cuties?” She was stunned when told the truth.
“I always try to take some of the weight from Pat. I always wanna strive to do that,” Rachel said.“I know I can’t fix — I can’t bring his kids back. But if I can honour them and allow Pat to grieve but also just continue to honour them in the present, I guess that’s all I can do.”
Patrick admitted to breaking down when he heard his harrowing 911 call played in court. In the aftermath, he too considered ending it all.
And he said in the months leading up to the murders, Lindsay was struggling with insomnia. He wasn’t sure what to do.
“I didn’t know how to manage a postpartum illness,” he said. “I’m sure there are things I didn’t see. I think mental illness has this ability to be tragically deceptive.”
Son Callan died in dad’s arms
He added: “There was a time when I didn’t think I would live to see my 35th birthday, and I was completely fine with it.”
For a time, as baby Callan fought for life in hospital, Patrick hoped his wee son would make it. It was not to be.
“That night I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live,” Patrick said. “And I remember just thinking, just gimme one, just gimme one kid, and I would raise him as best I could.
“I would give him the best life I possibly could. I would tell him about his brother and sister, and I was holding out hope for that.”
As his boy lay dying, Patrick told him: “I’m so sorry. I got to hold him, I got to lay down next to him, and he died in my arms.”
After the slayings, Patrick moved to New York City, where he could grieve in anonymity.
Patrick said Lindsay was no ‘monster’
But during the interview, the 38-year-old father was clear that his ex-wife is not a “monster.” Not forgiving her would have torn him to pieces. She never asked for forgiveness, but he gave it anyway.
“I think I did the best I could with what I had at the time,” he told 60 Minutes. “And I live with the outcome. I live with it every day. But I think I did the best I could.”
Lindsay is now paralyzed from the waist down following her suicide attempt. When he asked her whether she remembered anything, she claimed it was like a “dream.”
But as the sisterhood has held Lindsay Clancy up as a modern-day Joan of Arc, many have directed their venom at Patrick. Some have hinted he was responsible for the slayings.
There has never been an iota of evidence that he was involved.
“It’s deeply harmful to the legacy of my children,” he said. “It is a huge distraction from what really matters here, which is perinatal mental health, and it’s done real harm to real people.”
His lawyers have warned that those trolls spreading false allegations could face legal ramifications.
“I don’t understand how the story’s been so twisted,” Rachel said. “But I would hope people know that Pat is, as I said before, the most selfless father and supportive partner.”
Prosecutors are now determining whether Lindsay Clancy will face a second murder trial.
