As the high school football season is about to enter the final weekend of September, the South Jersey Mean 15 rankings have endured some shuffling over the last few weeks.
Here are the latest rankings:
South Jersey Mean 15 rankings
1, St. Augustine (4-0, last week’s ranking: 1). The Hermits are 4-0 for the first time since 2016. The team won its first nine games that season and finished 9-1. Senior Roman Coney, a Cincinnati recruit, has surpassed the 2,000-rushing-yard mark. Next: at Millville (2-1), Friday, 6 p.m.
2. Rancocas Valley (4-0, 2). The Red Devils’ receiving corps of seniors Malcolm Harrison and Mikey McQueen along with junior Dre Byrdsong all have double-digit catches for over 240 yards and have combined for 13 TD receptions in four games. Next: at Cherokee (1-3), Friday, 6 p.m.
4. Washington Township (4-0, 4). The Minutemen boast a state-best 18-game winning streak. Township’s ground game has produced 10 touchdowns over four games, including three apiece for Elijah Cole and Drew Dorsey. Next: at Kingsway (0-4), Friday, 6 p.m.
3. Winslow Township (3-1, 3). The Eagles had their 14-game winning streak snapped when they surrendered 35 unanswered points in a 42-14 loss at St. Augustine. Junior Tre Alexander has rushed for 367 yards with his new team after running for over 1,200 yards in his first two seasons at Williamstown. Next: vs. Atlantic City (1-3), Friday, 6 p.m.
5. Glassboro (3-1, 5). Oregon commit Xavier Sabb has 173 receptions for 2,766 yards and 34 receiving touchdowns in his scholastic career. The totals rank fourth, seventh and eighth, respectively, in South Jersey history according to local historian Chuck Langerman. Next: at Holy Spirit (1-3), Friday, 6 p.m.
6. Camden (2-1, 6). The Panthers became the first team to solve the Ocean City defense this season, rushing for five touchdowns in a 32-8 road win over the Red Raiders. Camden’s rushing attack is averaging over six yards per carry and 259 yards per game over its first three contests. Next: vs. Cedar Creek (0-4), Friday, 6 p.m.
7. Millville (2-1, 7). The Thunderbolts bounced back with a 30-19 win over Kingsway on Friday. Over the next two weeks, Millville will face teams with a combined 8-0 record in St. Augustine and Rancocas Valley. Next: vs. St. Augustine (4-0), Friday, 6 p.m.
8. Burlington Township (3-1, 8). The Falcons are averaging 31.3 points per game over their current three-game winning streak. Gerald Sackie rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns against Delsea on Friday. His 17 carries in the game were eight more than his entire scholastic career. Next: vs. Pleasantville (2-2), Friday, 6 p.m.
9. Haddonfield (4-0, 10). The Haddons haven’t allowed more than 13 points in any of their four games this season. Seniors Cormac Flanagan and Billy Mumbower have combined for 11.5 sacks this season. Next: at West Deptford (4-0), Friday, 7 p.m.
10. West Deptford (4-0, 11). The Eagles have yielded seven-or-fewer points in each of their four games this season. Senior Zamir Davis and junior Curtis Pearson share the team lead with three interceptions. Next: vs. Haddonfield (3-0), Friday, 7 p.m.
11. Atlantic City (1-3, 9). The Vikings’ three losses have come to teams with a combined record of 10-1 and have been by a combined 25 points. Next: at Winslow (3-1), Friday, 6 p.m.
12. Shawnee (3-1, 12). After averaging 35.3 points in their first three games, the Renegades were held to a season-low 6 in a 36-6 loss at Rancocas Valley. The team was held to single-digit points in just one game last season – the sectional semifinal loss to Winslow by a 47-7 count. Next: vs. Delsea (1-3), Friday, 6 p.m.
13. Ocean City (3-1, 14). The Red Raiders yielded 32 points in a loss to Camden on Friday. The team allowed 30-or-more points just twice last season in losses to Holy Spirit and Mainland. Next: at Mainland (1-3), Friday, 6 p.m.
14. Eastside (3-1, NR). The Tigers ride a three-game winning streak as they make their season debut in the rankings. The team has outscored its opponents 98-6 over the last three weeks. Next: vs. Triton (1-2), Saturday, 1 p.m.
15. Oakcrest (4-0, NR). The Falcons’ first 4-0 start since 2016 has vaulted the team in the rankings for the first time this season. Sophomore quarterback Zane Forest has thrown for 557 yards and five touchdowns in four games. Over the next three weeks, the team will face opponents with current 3-1 records. Next: vs. Hammonton (3-1), Friday, 6 p.m.
