Unlike his predecessor, Enzo Maresca will not be jetting off to soak up the sun during the international break.

The Manchester City manager might envy Pep Guardiola's approach, but with his children in school, any downtime over the coming weeks will be spent closer to home, fitted around the school run.
Maresca will not be using the opportunity to work with players who have remained behind while their teammates head off on international duty. As has been the case for the past decade, those players will be free to spend the break however they choose, provided they return to training sharp and ready ahead of their game against Liverpool on October 11, as per the Manchester Evening News.

As is typically the situation at City, there are few squad members not representing their nations. Phil Foden and Rico Lewis have been omitted from the England setup, Matheus Nunes was surprisingly overlooked for the Portugal squad, Allan has not featured at senior level for Brazil, and Jeremy Doku has been left out of Belgium's plans following his recent injury.
All of those players will have the next two weeks to themselves, trusted to strike the right balance between rest and maintaining their fitness.
For some, particularly Doku, given his injury concerns, that could involve work at the City Football Academy next week to aid his recovery and rehabilitation, though there will be no organized group training sessions.
Maresca will begin working with those players again in the week leading up to the Liverpool fixture, with those returning from international duty making their way back to Manchester according to their respective schedules. The entire squad is anticipated to be back in training by Thursday, October 8, ahead of Sunday's trip to Anfield.

Life as Guardiola's successor couldn't be going much better for Maresca thus far, with City top of the Premier League entering the break with five wins in as many games, including a 1-0 Manchester derby win over United, despite being down to 10-men for much of the game.
Meanwhile, they also beat FC Porto 2-0 in their UEFA Champions League opener and took down Norwich City 5-0 in the EFL Cup third round.
