District football game between Tascosa, Frenship enters weather delay

Thursday night's District 2-5A Division I opener between Frenship and Tascosa has entered a weather delay at Dick Bivins Stadium in Amarillo.
With the Rebels leading the Tigers 13-7 at halftime, lightning in the area cleared the stands and caused a delay that lasted more than an hour. As of, 9:45 p.m. the delay was still ongoing and neither team has come back onto the field.

Heavy rain continues to fall in Amarillo, and AISD officials expect play to resume around 10:30 p.m., at the earliest.
Frenship struck first, as junior quarterback James Ordonez found Noah Gonzales for a touchdown in the second quarter. Tascosa responded with two touchdown drives to end the first half, though, as Ji'Kavien Moore and Za'Ryan Malone each logged scoring runs.
After both teams went to the locker room, Tascosa crowned its homecoming queen before calling the delay.
The Rebels and Tigers both hold a 1-2 record on the season and look to start district competition with an important win.
