Man dead in North York stabbing; motorcyclist killed in crash

A man has been arrested following a deadly stabbing in North York Saturday night.

Toronto Police said officers were called to the Steeles Ave. W.-Hilda Ave. area, where the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim during a fight.
Cops said life-saving measures were performed on the victim — a man in his 50s — but he died at the scene.
Police said Meir Cohen, 46, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The victim’s identity has not been released by police pending next-of-kin notification.
His death is the city’s 29th homicide this year, police said.
Cops probing motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist has died in a single-vehicle crash in the city’s western waterfront early Sunday morning.
Toronto Police said the motorcyclist was travelling westbound on Lake Shore Blvd. W., approaching British Columbia Rd. when it lost control and struck a pole on the south side of Lake Shore Blvd. W.
Police said the 34-year-old man was ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Toronto Police Duty Insp. Jon Rose told reporters at a news conference that the circumstances around the crash are still being investigated, but noted speed may have been a factor.
Lake Shore Blvd. W. was closed to traffic between British Columbia Rd. and Ontario Dr., but was reopened in the afternoon.
Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.
