Will Ospreay puts Jon Moxley, The Death Riders in the rearview with successful title defense at AEW All Out

Will Ospreay was in The Death Riders’ dojo for months trying to hone the visceral side of his pro wrestling athleticism in hopes of winning the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) World Championship. He built a strange relationship with Jon Moxley in the meantime but failed to earn the respect of the rest of the faction.

Ospreay and The Death Riders split up ahead of the Brit’s AEW World Championship match against Kenny Omega at All In. However, it was Moxley who handed Ospreay the Union Jack before he entered Wembley Stadium and later defeated Omega to win the title.

The odd couple type of relationship flashed again after All In. AEW owner Tony Khan made Moxley the first opponent for Ospreay. It all culminated into the brawl at All Out.
Ospreay appeared to completely sever ties with The Death Riders when he lit their flag on fire before the match. Moments later, the fight began.
Moxley, with his slow and methodical pace, tried to inflict maximum damage. He nailed a DDT on Ospreay from the top turnbuckle. He worked on Ospreay’s neck from here, nailing a piledriver on the champion in the middle of the ring. When Ospreay tried a springboard cutter, Moxley countered that as well.
Moxley had Ospreay’s number, but he didn’t have Ospreay’s heart. A quick reversal led to a powerbomb and pin attempt. Ospreay hit Moxley with a Hidden Blade but with the referee down, the rest of The Death Riders jumped into the match to give Moxley an advantage.

Luckily, Ospreay had backup. Andrade El Idolo and "Speedball" Mike Bailey backed up Ospreay to even the odds. Alex Windsor, fresh off a Chicago street fight, came out to take care of Marina Shafir.
Moxley came to his own decision. He had a briefcase in his hand and seemed to fight with himself over whether to use it. He smashed Ospreay in the head after some deliberation. Still, Moxley couldn’t secure the victory.
Ospreay’s heart took over. He pulled the elbow pad off his right arm and nailed Moxley with one final Hidden Blade. He pinned Moxley, picking up the win in his first title defense.
Ospreay and Moxley shook hands after their fight. It appeared that Ospreay’s rivalry with The Death Riders had come to a close. Who steps up next was anyone’s guess, but Ospreay appeared to make that decision for everyone.
In the post-event media scrum, Ospreay said he wanted Kazuchika Okada to challenge him for the title. Okada seemingly accepted. The match will take place at Grand Slam France on Oct. 6.
