Ellis Tech’s Lucas Beavan has been voted The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 14-19.
The Golden Eagles sophomore placed fourth overall (19:48) to help the Ellis Tech boys country team capture the Wheeler Invitational. The Golden Eagles topped Old Lyme, Norwich Tech, and host Wheeler.

This week saw plenty of standout performances in football, boys soccer, girls soccer, girls volleyball, and field hockey across Eastern Connecticut. While there's no shortage of talent, we went and found the best of the best.

Liam LaMotte, Killingly
The Trailblazers junior rushed for 182 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns in Killingly’s 27-0 football victory against Windham.
Rebecca Marsh, Griswold
The Wolverines senior outside hitter had 24 kills and 12 digs in Griswold’s five-set girls volleyball win over No. 9 Norwich Free Academy.
Mason Mills, Griswold
The Wolverines junior receiver had five receptions for 132 yards and scored two touchdowns in Griswold’s 34-13 football loss against Norwich Free Academy.
Abbigail Moffat, Killingly
The Trailblazers senior scored the game’s only goal as Killingly earned its first field hockey win of the season with a 1-0 win over Fitch.
Camryn Murray, Ellis Tech
The Golden Eagles senior outside hitter collected 43 kills and 19 assists to lead Ellis Tech girls volleyball to a perfect 3-0 week with victories over Windham Tech, Goodwin Tech, and Cheney Tech.
Maya Panteleakos, Killingly
The Trailblazers freshman scored her first varsity goal in Killingly’s 5-0 girls soccer win over Wheeler. Panteleakos also had a key assist in a 2-0 win over Ledyard.
Austin Perry, Norwich Free Academy
The Wildcats sophomore forward scored the game winning goal with 15 minutes remaining as NFA topped Watertown, 1-0, in a non-league boys soccer contest.
Xavier Sebastian, Norwich Free Academy
The Wildcats senior gained 226 yards on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns in NFA’s 34-13 football victory against Griswold/Wheeler.
