Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast this week talking about a controversial topic – Estevao. The winger has yet to make a Premier League start this season, and there are rumours that he’s not happy about that.

“I’ve been underwhelmed by his impact off the bench, and clearly [Xabi] Alonso has, because I think you can see by the way he’s then gone with him that clearly he’s not actually felt that he’s made the required impact.”
That feels incredibly harsh to us. It’s hard enough to make an impact off the bench when you have a full half an hour, it’s infinitely more difficult when you get five or ten minutes.
Estevao should be judged on starts, and even then, he should be judged once he’s had a run of them to get up to speed. Unfortunately we all know that’s not going to happen, barring a first team injury. He has to make do with what time Alonso gives him off the bench.
