More international flights to Cape Town in 2027

British Airways is increasing its number of international flights between London Heathrow and Cape Town for the upcoming summer season.
The airline will increase the frequency on the route from seven flights per week to 10, adding three additional weekly services from the end of March 2027.

More British Airways flights to Cape Town
The additional services will operate on the London Heathrow (LHR) to Cape Town (CPT) route under flight numbers BA43/BA42.
The route currently operates daily, but the new schedule will take the service to 10 flights per week.
For passengers travelling between the UK and Cape Town, the additional services will provide more choice when planning trips during the summer season.
The increase will take effect from 28 March 2027 as part of British Airways’ summer schedule.
Virgin Atlantic is also adding South Africa flights
British Airways is not the only UK airline increasing its South African services.
Virgin Atlantic is also expanding its international flight schedule between London Heathrow and South Africa during the 2026/27 peak travel season.
From October 2026 to April 2027, Virgin Atlantic plans to operate up to 11 weekly flights between Heathrow and Cape Town, as well as 10 weekly flights to Johannesburg.
The expanded schedule is aimed at providing additional flexibility during one of South Africa’s busiest international travel periods.
Virgin Atlantic is also introducing changes to some timings, including earlier morning arrivals in South Africa and later evening departures to London.
The airline said it has seen strong demand for travel to and from South Africa, particularly among premium travellers.
Marc Harding, Virgin Atlantic’s country manager for South Africa, said convenience, comfort and international connectivity remain important to passengers travelling between South Africa and the UK.
The additional services from both airlines come as international airlines continue to adjust their South African schedules ahead of the peak travel season.
